Ingo Schoffer from Team Festo will show his innovative human powered boat
at the Kieler Woche.
This waterbike is a catamaran with a pneumatic unit that propels the
boat. According to Ingo Schoffer, this method of transferring human power
into pneumatic power in order to provide propeller power has never been
tried before.
Basically, only lubricants such as oil are used, since air can be
compressed which causes loss of energy, resulting into a lower efficiency.
Apparently the team found a way to ovoid this problem, cause if they
didn't, competitors take over.
